Doing your best is more important than being the best.

Financial Accounting proves to be more manageable then i expected, yet i screwed up my analytical skills. Don't really know why i can't perform in that, guess my thinking always differs from the rest... hahahah. Oh well... can't really emo and dwell on the past right? Gotta get myself up and push on. Jiayou!

Inspirational Quotes

School is tough but what keeps one going?

Some food for thought.

For those of you who repeatedly fail to keep a positive outlook in life,

Life is 10% what it gives you and 90% how you respond to it.

Crazy

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

School is so busy to the point that i can't find time to blog. OK, more like an excuse because i do not know what to blog about.
Life simply revolves around school, eat, study, sleep, traveling, presentations, projects and undoable exams. My whole face is plagued with acne cause i am really stressed and i don't always get enough sleep.

At least i have great friends whom i care about very much. They always never fail to brighten me up in times of gloom.

And i got a great mum who takes care of all my needs so that i can devote my time to my studies! love her! And kudos to my cute sister who always delight me with her cute puzzling actions. I gonna snatch your bolster and blanket you if you are reading this. Muhahaha. Dad is wonderful too! Cause he works as hard as me!

Gratitude is the reason why i am here.

On a side note, there is this angel. The mere sight of her softens me. Her voice mesmerises me and her laughter causes me to cringe. Emotions abound. How interesting.

Life is wonderful.

Money woes + I feel dumb

Uni is starting and that's often the time when the harsh revelation hits you hard---the exorbitant school fees!

I do not come from a well-to-do family and this tuition fees that amount to 32k plus will definitely put a toll on my parents. Blame it on the fact that my results are unable to secure a scholarship. Blame it on my stupidity. Sometimes, i really wish i can score better and get a bond free scholarship so as to ease my family's financial burden.

Tertiary school fees are really way too expensive! I really hope the government can subsidise more of our local uni fees! The foreign students have it much better. Everything is sponsored for their education here and they are only required to serve their 3 years bond upon graduation. No offence here please..we cannot deny the fact that foreign talents are important to Singapore, but i want to bring across my point which is more can be done to reduce local tertiary school fees...definitely more. :)

Enough of the gripes and instead of wallowing in my self-pity, I better start to think of some solutions. I know of the various help avenues present out there...Ok i am dumb i know, but not to the point to neglect help opportunites. As my parents' CPF accounts do not have much money, it looks like getting a bank loan is the way to go. The bad thing about bank loan is that the interest rate is way higher.

On my part, i am working my ass off giving tuitions here and there. Weekends are often burnt doing tuitions, but i really need the income. I do not want to graduate and be in debt just because i havn't repaid my loan. That sucks. Imagine working the 1st few years just to repay debts. Wait a minute..can i even be guaranteed a job in the 1st place?

Sigh. Still need to spend on laptops etc. etc. The list just never seems to end.

Grave of the fireflies

I watched an animated movie titled "Grave of the fireflies" together with my sister this evening on her laptop. It was a 1988 japanese animation which spoke of a heartwarming tale about two japanese orphaned siblings who had to cope with the harsh life during the 2nd world war. It was really an emotional and poignant film which at times moved me to tears. Couldn't help it, the movie was just so freaking sad. Had a hard time trying to conceal my sadness from my sister..didn't want her to mock at me you know.
The movie basically focuses on the lives of the two protagonists - a teenage boy and a four year old sister who became orphans after their mum was killed in a bomb raid in Kobe. Together they strived to survive on the war streets amid widespread famine and the callous indifference of their fellow countrymen. Yet, harsh circumstances eventually took their toll on them and they finally succumbed to malnutritution and death.

The movie is in fact based on a semi-autobiograhic novel of a real japanese who survived the war but lost her beloved sister to starvation. He wrote the novel in order to alleviate his pains and also to make his amends for his sister. It just goes to show that life can be fragile and how a senseless war can cause the sufferings of so many innocent individuals. And with the North Korea issue making the headlines every so often, who knows when the next war will commence and claim the lives of many.

A really touching movie. So powerful to the point i blog about it.

Noing much..really

TP stint has ended. Life has basically reverted to the usual slacking mod. Find myself with simply too much time these days! I wouldn't say this is bad, because i have been indulging in things that i really like which i haven't had time to do them in the past.

School is starting soon and this will also mean a new phase of my life. Wonder how it will turn up to be. Gonna be optimistic though. =)

Enjoying and living my carefree life currently and accordingly to the adage:

Mindless working

My schedule has never been so hectic before. I feel that sometimes, people pack themselves with so much obligations that they are unable to find time for anything else at all. That's what is happening to me precisely. My life currently revolves around work and i really mean work only, turning me into a lifeless machine and at times, reducing me to the point of incapacity.

Mindless working has not proved to be without any meaning at all. I manage to derive many satisfactions and fulfillment, and it feels good because i know that i am making myself useful. I have made some new friends, gained many invaluable experiences and learnt many new things along the way. Of course, there is still the joy and ecstasy of receiving the pay slips for all the hard work that one puts in. I really need the income to help finance my university tuition fees and also some courses that i have signed up.

Another huge change in my life is that i have started to drive to work every morning and it is not any ordinary car mind you! It is an old silvery toyota pickup! That's because my dad is a carpenter and i think it's really cool to drive a pickup as compared to a car as it requires more skills. However, i must confess that there is nothing good about driving a truck. The truck's tail is long and you have to constantly bear in mind that you have to make a wider turn in order to avoid the risk of hitting its tail. Once, i was maneuvering the pickup in a narrow carpark and i scratched its tail against a pillar because i didn't make a wide enough turn. That was really noobish driving and i still feel bad about it although it has been weeks since the freak incident. Yet, my dad didn't really reprimand me and told me that driving is like learning a skill, it will be good only with sufficient practice.

Jobs aside, i have tried to make time to pursue my own stuff despite my heavy workload. I am glad that i have passed my M5 test despite my ignorance. Well, i don't think that i should deserve to pass as i havn't really revised for it. Haha. Gonna start on M7 soon :). As for jap, i have completed basic 1 course, gonna embark on basic 2. Ganbatte!

Life After Army

It has been quite some time since i ORD in November 08. Haven't really gotten an 8 to 5 job though but i am currently working part-time at a tuition centre as an educator and also giving private tuitions to earn some allowances. Of course, i will still jump at any opportunity that offers me an admin job. It's more for the experience rather than the pay.i have tried agencies like Recruit Express and Temasek Poly but to no avail.

The huge pluses of my current teaching job are that the pay per hour is substantially greater and the work is also much more meaningful compared t0 a dull full time clerical job like data entry. I really enjoy the interactions with the students very much as they will often provide me with glimpses into the cute and innocent life that i once used to have. The best of all, i have a lot of free time to myself! Haha. Some people wondered why i didn't try to do relief teaching. I did apply! But no school has called me up as of now. :( Some of my luckier friends who did the same things as me were even offered a contract to teach at schools for months! So envious!

I am going to use the free time i have to do some self-improvement before school starts. Next week, i am going to sit for my CMFA M5 (Rules and Regulations for Financial Advisory Services) exam. It's a basic exam one needs to take before one can offer financial advices. This is a self-study thing and I figure i would go sit for it in order to learn more about products like insurance. :) Passing a few of these modules will enable one to provide advisory services like an insurance agent. I havn't really thought of becoming an agent though. It's more for the knowledge that i would like to gain. :)

I also won't neglect the jap studies that i am currently having too.

Happy 牛 Year!

Opps is jan 09!

This is so darn random. I gonna be turning 21 soon. They say 21th birthday is a significant milestone in a person's life. It ought to be a celebrated in a fun exciting manner with lots and lots of friends!

But i think i ain't celebrating it that way. That night will be spent tutoring anyway. Work work! Oh well, i guess i will just buy a cake and celebrate with my family after work bah.

Seeing other friends in facebook celebrating 21st birthdays in such grand manners always make me wonder if i am missing out in life. I really hope not.

I figure that i ought to buy myself a bigger cake then! Just for this year. =D

Let's hit the roads!

My friend and I decided to rent a car on the 16th and 17th december as he wanted to celebrate his ORD. Renting a car was not without much careful considerations since there were high risks and costs involved. We figured that we would still give it a try although we were fresh licence holders. After all, driving is all about accumulating experience. We wanted to be more familiarised with the roads in Singapore and also to hone our driving skills.

We rented a Mazda 3 and we drove to many places. Over the span of 2 days, I travelled through and forth from Pasir Ris to Jurong. I also explored around the east and town areas, trying to remember important road names along the way.
It was quite exhilarating once I got the hands of it, but it was also quite stressful especially when I horlan or when other drivers refused to give way when i wanted to filter into their lanes.

My nightmarish experience didn't occur in the expressways but at Katong. Katong area was packed with traffic during night peak hours and it was hard to navigate around or park. Also, it sux not to know your way around and i felt that driving risks could significantly be reduced if you were familiar with the roads. But thank god i survived it. =D

Overall, it was quite an adventure and my driving confidence had improved tremendously. I felt that the money spent was worth it.

It's time to remember the street directory! =X

Update of race results!!

As mentioned in my previous entry, i took part in two events that were organised as part of the global entrepreneurship month.

First event was called the JA titan held at NUS. Objective of the competition was to run a virtual game company that sought to to thrive, not just to survive. My team of 4, had to make decisions on capital investments, RnD, units productions, units price and marketing that would directly affect our company in order to outwit other competitors running their own virtual companies. Performance of the company was measured by the performance index (PI). Our PI constantly topped the others throughout the quarters and we were excited about winning, as the winning team got to take home a plaque and a coveted 150 Borders book voucher for every team member. As fate had it, we ran out of luck in the last quarter and the 2nd team overtook our PI by a mere few points. It was so damn disappointing as we watched them receiving the vouchers. We were so close to getting them. Yet, we could only sulk and as 1st runner up,we did not get anything by the way. =(

Today's event was called the enterprise race. It was very significant as the winning team got to take home with them a cash reward of $2000! My team was all out to win for this one, after a disappointing performance on the JA titan. We prepared ourselves by running and doing our reseach on companies and present entrepreneurs as hard as we could before the competition . We even went to the extent of going to the starting venue 2 days before the race just to get ourselves familiarised with the surroundings. The race adopted elements from the Amazing Race and it took place in the heart of the CBD area. Participants had to decipher clues and overcome obstacles at a total of 9 stations before they could proceed to the pit stop. The hard work we put in for this one eventually paid off. We came in as the earliest team. However as luck had it again, our total performance points lost out to a RGS girls team (NOT AGAIN!!). Got 2nd again but this time, 2nd place got to walk away with 1k! Woohoo! Besides that, we won the most innovative award at one of the station, and that made our combined revenue 1.3k! Yes! Our real regret for the race was that we didn't get 1st as we lost to the other team in terms of the support they had. The lack of support costed us some valuable points which would have turned the tide of battle :(. None the less, at least we got 2nd and each of us was contented to walk away with a net profit of $305! LOL.

Lesson learnt: Next time must get friends here to support and chear for us.

Peace at last

Hello Blog. It has been quite some time since i last came.

Important milestones in my life. =DDDD

12/11/08 - ORD LOH!! No more regimentations! It's the beginning of a brand new phase of life. I call it the pink IC paradise.

15/11/08 - Officially matriculated into SMU. Can't wait to collect my student card! That means i can now enjoy the student meals at KFC and MAC finally! There is now no longer a need to feign as student and come up with lame excuses when the counter requests to see your student card. O_O

17/11/08 - PASSED MY DRIVING TEST IN MY FIRST ATTEMPT! This wonderful feeling is even more intense than ORDing. OMG, I thought i would fail initially. The most serious mistake during the test was the one when the tester asked me to turn left and i went to turn right. And that really really pissed him off. It pissed him off so bad that he made #%#@ noise non-stop throughout the entire period. SUPER DEMORALISING and i was thinking OMG OMG i gonna failed. Luckily everything in circuit went smoothly and didn't strike kerb or hit pole.. but on the road was like hell. Freakin lots of cars! Well, that wasn't the main point but they just wouldn't want to let me filter into their lanes because everytime i did, they would speed up and HONG at me. Damn irritating! As if the drivers themselves last time were not L or P plates holders before. Maybe they wanted to bastard me upon seeing my dbl L plates. But heng la, in the end i still passed. =DDDDDD

Upcoming and ongoing events. =DDDD

20/11/08 - Friends jio me to attend some biz challenge at NUS. No idea what it is about. Just go. Must go in teams of four. Winning team will get a plaque and $150 dollar book vouchers for every team member.

23/11/08 - Another competition and i think is call the entrepreneurial challenge or something. Basically is like an amazing race within the CBD area. Must go in teams of four again.

I am currently attending jap lessons with my khakis every friday night. It's rather enjoyable to be in their company cause they are seriously funny asses to be with. Friday night has inadvertently turned into a kind of informal gatherings for us.

I ain't looking for a job now although i did source for some a while ago. But none of them turned out to be suitable sadly. I am kinda relishing my freedom now and i admit i realli love it. The money woes will trouble me another day.But right now, i just want to rest.

Boring

My life has pretty much come to a standstill due to heavy commitments in army. Won't pretty much blog on that due to the nature of my work being classified. Let's just say i am attached to a foreign guest in an exchange programme that will span over a month.

Although the days are long, most of the nights in camp are actually quite free. To kill time, i read a book mostly. Occasionally, my buddy will drop by to teach me how to write some hiragana as he is rather proficient in japanese. Other activities i indulge in include watching movies on the PSP or going to the mess to use the computers. It is rather tormenting to be stuck in camp for a week without going home. Imagine a week of prison life! So i always try to find something meaningful to do.

I have begun to receive steroids injections for my hypertrophic scars or keloids monthly. They are supposed to help flatten my scars by breaking down the interior collagen tissues. Hope it helps cause the process is rather excruciating..

Next month, i am going for a operation again to remove all 4 of my wisdom teeth. It is a rather troublesome procedure because i will have to undergo general anesthesia again. Also, the gums will be stitched up after the ops and i will have to return one week later to remove the stitches. One funny thing i heard from my friends is that they will return the teeth immediately to you after the Ops for memorable purposes. Oh well..pretty worthless i guess.

As the saying goes, every suffering has an end! Another 87 days to ORD! Can't wait... :)

Unit Trusts - part 3

Unit Trusts is also known as Mutual funds in the US. They are essentially the same thing.

The principle is the pooling of money from small-time investors into a huge account managed by a manager for investment into the financial market.

4 main types

1) Insurance- Studies had shown that unit trusts from insurance company tend to underperform those offered by financial institution. However, quite a huge sum is invested here due to the psycho effect from our insurance agents. Reason is because these funds usually had a huge amount of admin fees associated with it.. these fees are deducted from your funds to serve your insurance needs. Less pooled funds means less investments which also means less returns in revenue! Hence, a life policy is better than investment linked funds.

2)Banks- Banks selling there own funds eg. UOB and DBS

3)3rd Party Bank- Bank that does not manage any funds but sell funds from other financial institutions..Standard Chartered bank is the biggest 3rd party bank locally.

4)Internet Fund House- Popular now because of its accessiblity. Less admin charges apply because 3rd party transaction is not involved.

Charges for Unit Trusts
There will usuabble be a sales charge for most funds...If you read the papers, they will always quote 2 figures..You will always be buying the most expensive and selling at the cheaper price..This difference is the sales charge or the spread..Usually quoted at 5%..However with internet Fund House these days, the sales charge will be lower at around 2%.

There are funds that have only one quote price (e.g Franklin Templetion).
To clarify earlier post whereby i mentioned Franklin Templetion funds have only 1 price instead of 2. This is because the sales charges is already deducted from your investment before they allocate the units to you. Other funds will only deduct the sale charges when you want to sell the units in your holding. Hence the need for 2 prices.

Types of Unit Trusts
There are a few categories the funds are invested in. This is also known as market.

1)Asset allocation-Shares/equities or Bonds or Foreign exchange (Money market) etc.

Depending on your risk appetite, choose the type of asset that suits you...Equities is the highest risk type while money markets is a totally different type of risk ...However, with higher interest rates causing bonds to yield fewer returns nowdays, money pumped into shares will be better. Will confirm again...

2)Geographical allocation-This can be single country eg.China, India, etc or regional (eg. Asia, Europe) or global.

3)Sectoral allocation- Refers to the Biz type-Popular sectors include Technology, Healthcare,Finance..

When deciding which fund to invest in...Consider all 3 factors...For example, if you believe in equities, Asia, Tech...Look for a fund invested into this area.

Point to note, the more specific a fund is invested in, the higher risk it is involved... eg. a Global Balanced Fund will spread out your risks..

Sianz, army committments just get more and more with time.

Points to note for driving today before i forget.

1. Gear control isn't too good, will occasionally slip in the change between gear 3 and 2. Must sweep left hard to make sure it is gear 2.

2. Moving off from gear 1, make sure left leg is at half-clutch/biting point and step accelerator a little will do. Common mistake is that the biting point is not reached, so the car takes a longer time to move off. This is important especially on slope, as the car needs to move straight away once biting point is reached, if not will roll back. Another mistake is too much pressure on accelerator applied sometimes, so car surge forward.

3. Always step on brake a little if the car is going to fast. And make sure heel does not touch ground when brake is stepped.

4. Have a tendency to park too far alway from the left kerb.

5. Change to neutral gear only if the car has stopped fully. Must step on brake if parking brake is not engaged to prevent rolling.

6. Always make sure to check right before exiting minor road and joining major road. And always use gear 2 when entering zebra crossing.

7. Rear mirror must be adjusted correctly so that the three lanes and the left kerb can be seen.

8. When stopping, brake gradually and when the car is about to stop, clutch in and brake at the same time to fully stop. Brake gradually to prevent sudden stop.

9. For gear 2, always rest at half-clutch before releasing clutch to prevent sudden speed surge and noise pollution.

Unit trusts- part 2

As spoken on unit trust part 1, the performance of the unit trust depends on the fund manager and the market the funds are invested in. Since the monies we pooled in are controlled and managed by the fund manager, it is essential to research on the manager. Generally, researching the managers has now been a rather difficult exercise due to little advertising and coordinated pool of information. Therefore, one must draw to his or her own conclusion whether the fund managers are capable or not.

With regards to market, it is essential to research on the underlying market that the unit trusts invest in. Unit trusts are often categorised into groups that best reflect what they invest in. Generally, the more "unfashionable" a market has been, the more you should feel comfortable relaxing in it. A fashionable can also mean an unstable market and one will see a lot of sellers as investors try to reduce their overweight position. However, for a unfashionable market, most investors will have a low weightage in it and therefore try to buy in order to restore their weightage.

Buying unit trusts
There are two prices quoted for a unit trust and the higher price is known as the "offer" price. The lower price is called the "bid"price. So when a price is quoted like $1.70-$1.60, one will know that the units were on sale for $1.70 and could be redeemd at $1.60. The difference is known as the "spread", which is usually around 5%.

One must know that there are exceptions to this. For example,Templeton unit trust quote only one price., This actaully means the bid price they are prepared to buy back the units. When you buy, they will deduct from the investment the amount of sale charges and the rest is invested at the net asset value price. The effect on the price you pay is the same, but it saves calculating and publishing two prices.

I think i will take a break for now and look at another kind of financial instrument in my next entry.

Unit trusts- part 1

I figure that i will start posting financial stuff which has always been my area of interest. Through this, i hope to consolidate whatever i have learnt and share these info with my readers(if there is any in the 1st place). Should there by any absurd rubbish or wrong information posted, do pardon me as i am also learning with you. Lastly, Whatever i posted here is based on my personal opinions and so do not be surprised by my rather subjective views. Without further delay, let's begin!

The wrong mentality with most people is that when they think of investments, they only think of shares and real estates properties. In fact, there are many areas to look at when one is investing. Although shares is a hot favour, i will not blog on this today. Instead, i will touch on unit trusts, which is quite an interesting area for investors. FYI, a lot of info is obtained from books and websites. Therefore,i have to rephrase it in my own simple words in order not to risk copyright infringement.

What is Unit Trust?

A unit trust is a large portfolio of securities (that is equities / shares, bonds and other financial instruments) managed by a fund manager, which is subdivided into "units". It is normally designed for household savings.

How does it work?

Basically, you fill in a simple application form stating that you want to buy a particular unit trust. Your money will be credited into the account of the fund manager a few days later after purchasing. Most unit trusts require a minimun lump sum eg. $1000. In return, you get a number of "units". These units are proportionate to the money you invest in. Normally, you will get a confirmation which will tell you how many units you have bought and at what price. Note that your subscription forms just part of the cash holding of the unit trust's portfolio since you aren't the only guy investing! The fund manager will invest the the total cash holdings in secuities he deem fit in order to reap returns. Working with the manager is the trustee who holds legal responsibility for the running of the unit trusts. Therefore, how good a unit trust performs depends on i.)your manager and ii)the market the unit trust invest in. If the performance is good, your units will be highly valued and you can redeem it for a sizeable amount of cash.

When can i sell it?

You can sell your unit trust at any time by asking your fund manager who will sell the units for you. You will receive the proceed into your bank account most likely in 1 week.

I am tired now and got to sleep early because there is duty tomorrow. I will touch on why the fund manager and market matters so much in the performance of unit trust in my next entry. Here is a sample of a unit share site taken from poems( philips securities brokerage firm) More info on broking houses next time! http://www.poems.sg/FinancialServices/unitTrusts.asp

Glossary

i.Equity is simply share. Some people like to use equity as a financial jargon for share just to appear chim and that's what i think. It means a part of a company's capital which is owned by shareholders. Although i read in SGX site that equity shares means a special kind of shares in a market..maybe it does have a different meaning. But all i know now is that equity is share.

2.trustee-Trustee is a legal term that refers to a holder of property on behalf of a beneficiary. In this case, the trustee makes sure that the fund manager manages the securities sensibly on behalf of the beneficiary which is you.

3.Portfolio- Investor’s holding of securities of various types. The wise investment policy is to build up a balanced portfolio according to personal requirements.

4.Securities- A term used to refer to all shares, debentures, notes and bonds

Frens driving frenzy

Lately, my friends have been scrambling to get their hands on the much coveted driving licence. Not surprising, some of them already possessed it and are now eligible to cruise on public roads. I forsee that in the near future, there will be even more friends signing up for driving course as getting a licence is the 1st step to owning a car in their never ending 5 Cs chase. This is indeed a contrary to the past, whereby only the well to do can afford a car due to the high tax payment. Now, as singaporeans become increasingly affluent, educated and materialistic, owning a car is considered a normal and easy thing to do. Everyone in the rat race wants it.

Our dear Gahmen is not blind to this problem. They are not oblivious to the amount of cars currently present on the roads, and they just keep growing and growing. Road hogging, jams and accidents are more prevalent then ever before. Now, a trip along PIE to your destination will be more time consuming since there will be a jam on the expressway every now and then. The Gahmen has been trying to curb this problem recently by introducing more ERP gantries and capping the amount of cars that can be sold every year. Although it did help in some extent, i still believe that more and more drivers will hit the road each year, and massive crowding will inevitably arise.

Common, they always tell us to use public tranport by giving excuses like the oil shortage crisis, or that the process is cost efficient and we are doing a bid for the environment. Try telling that to a scholar or a financial hot shot to take public means and most probably they will shun you away because they are NOT going to give up their pursuit on a car. To them, a branded car symbolises elitism, power and superiority. "So what if you own a lancers, i gonna own a jaguar" is their only way of thinking sadly.

So would there be massive traffic congestion in the near future? The answer is quite obvious. Maybe the opening of the new KPE will alleviate the problem a little. But unless there is a world crisis like a sudden exhaustion of oil resources, the problem is here to stay.

I know i have been babbling on and on. This is a very random and probably my longest blog entry. It all arises because of a ride my friend gave me in his newly rented car. He had just received his licence weeks ago. My two other friends and myself in the car were admiring at his ability to control the steering wheel. To me, driving is a symbol of adulthood. Otherwise, i am still a kid if you know what i mean, a kid who is been driven around by an adult who is in actual reality my friend. That is why i am going to lay my hands on the licence no matter what. My two other friends are going to pick up driving as well due to influence.

It has just become another cheese for us rats to chase.

Just do it

It just came as a complete revelation. I have finally perfected a skill to empower people and get them motivated . Thanks to the insights gained from a friend's birthday party.

We always encounter difficulties whereby one has troubles getting people to attend outings because many of them won't give an answer and will just back out at the last min even if they have agreed to come.

Well, if your friend is unethusiatic or hesitant about attending gatherings or functions, try sending a very CUTE SMS imploring them to come. Dabbles with fonts, colours, whatever to make it interesting. Contents of the message as followed.

Friend, what you thinking? Don't think so much. Just comeeeeeeeeeeeee!:))))

You would be surprised at the effect of this message. Chances are that they will attend the event or functions. Cheers! This message can also be adjusted to suit the needs in different contexts. For example, you want to invite a friend along for running but he seems quite reluctant and undecisive. Tell him that he is thinking too much and ask him not to ponder, just run. You will see him saying okay to you in double quick time. Lolx

Oh yea, recently indulged in a reading spree in camp due to the sudden outburst of free time from being an admin clerk. Read like tons of books already. The only bad thing is that my camp forbids psp so i can't really play. Well, reading is a good thing to make the time pass by, although the activity is really passive i must say. My friend used to ask me how i managed to concentrate amid the noises and stares by superiors in the office. My answer to him is quite expected.

Don't think so much. Just read. :)

Obsession with a song can sometimes do wonder to your soul or spirit. My ears are glued to this song for days already and still not sick of it.

Sorry to disappoint if you reckon this would be another piece from artistes like JJ or Jay chow.

你身上有她的香水味;

Up pes to escape tyranny?

Recently one of my army friend made a remarkable move and set an example for all Singapore sons to follow by upping his pes status from C to A.

For all those who are unclear of pes status, pes status determine your suitability for vocations in the SAF, with the fittest being graded A and the problematic ones being graded C or E, depending on how serious your medical conditions are.

Many people will therefore try to downgrade to pes C or E so that they can go into slack vocations which are often not demanding.

Upgrade is quite rare and virtually unheard of.

Apparently, this poor friend of mine was initially granted pes c and was given a role as an admin or clerk assitant. However, he confounded in me that work pressure in admin was so great that he would rather pick a rifle and fight in the front line then being arrowed by superiors to do clerical saikang. I was appalled.

Moral of the story is that life is camp is so f*** up no matter where you go.

261 days to ORD!

Must strive for ROD! No reservist. :)))

Would you last?

A morbid grim title i have for this entry. Can't help it because i have seen how vulnerable lives really are. Recently on the local news were the deaths of two poly students in a car crash and a 19 year old army boy in a fatal motorbike accident. A pity.

Life can be fragile. Treasure time and your loved ones always.

Be aware every morning that you may not last the day,
And every evening that you may not last the night.

Depression is a pestilence

I would say that the few hours prior to the booking in timing every Sunday are the least meaningful and unproductive. It is during this time that most army personnel will just lock themselves in their room, fixing their eyes on their computer, rotting to...book in. Face it, the options ain't many when the poor army guy is required to book in at 10pm or 11pm and the clock reads a pathetic 7pm. So here i am now rotting my time away and blogging in front of the computer, unable to attend any gathering due to lack of time, just waiting to book in. Sigh.

This can be classified as a case of depression i think. Because it will just get
worse. The last 15 min to booking in is what i call the "blackout timing" because your mind is in a blank, oblivious to the happenings around you. Wait a min, how can there be "happenings" when you are confined in your own room? You have just switched off the damn computer, wore your damn polo t-shirt when you suddenly awe in utter amazement to find out that you have another 7 min to go before you step out of your door and venture to hell. 7 min... shit! And you immediately blame yourself for the stupidity of switching your com at such a early time. With nothing else to do, you just slump yourself flat on the bed and use the time left to stare at the ceiling...... What i just did is to echo the sentiments felt by many army people prior to booking in.

Sux. i am off to hell now.

Exasperation

People are a bunch of funny things. They tend to have a second look at aberrations. Likewise for me, i tend to think that clubbers are interesting people, because i cannot understand the fun of clubbing. I guess that when one finds some element that is different, one will tend to notice it and will want to find out more. In the case of my scarred finger, i have begun to attract stares here and there. Coversely, if clubbers find conservative people like me reading a book, or using my free time to play boardgames like SCRABBLES instead of grooving high to some disco music. I would probably be their center of attention because i am against the "norm" to them. They might think i am a weirdo or something...hmmm...

Well, the point that i want to bring across is that cliques are formed based on this societal differences because birds of the same feathers flock together. In my army circle of friends, buddies of old times have moved on to forming new cliques and relationships have soured over times. It was because differences exist between me and my buddies. Many of my army friends are english speaking, love clubbing, love to sing english songs and the night life which i don't really have a passion for it. Although i can't say i don't, but theirs is a bit too frequent and extreme for me. Naturally, i find myself being an outcast and have moved on to joining new cliques. I also find myself speaking less and less to my buddies of old times, and will feel a tinge of sadness whenever they go clubbing and i don't get invited. I understand that it is my fault that my personality don't match theirs and i ain't really their good old buddy anymore, although i did was in the past... I do feel neglected sometimes, but i can't force myself to conform, otherwise i wouldn't be myself anymore.

I just wish i will fit in once again.

Something lurking in the mist!

Caught the movie The Mist recently which is a adaptation of the novella by horror author Stephen King. It is about a group of people being trapped in a supermarket by an outerworldly mist. Mayhem ensues when they realise that there are strange beings lurking in the mist which seek to eviscerate anyone who dares to venture outside. The group of people needs to pull themselves together in order to survive. One thing interesting about the movie is that it brings out the darkest nature of human behaviour in times of adversity as the protagonist not only have to fend off aliens, but also have to grapple with the people within the confined supermarket to prevent them from doing stupid things that would endanger everyone's lives. Highly recommended movie to all. The ending was also too unexpected that i walked out of the cinema feeling dazed and falling into a state of comatose.

This movie inspired me to read the book and i found that The Mist is actually found in the book Skeleton Crew which is an anthology of many short horror stories. Managed to borrow it at my nearby library. :) There is also a official movie book written by stephen king himself for this movie.

Class gathering!

Recently attended 2 class outings last week! Due to the fact that i am tired now, i won't describe much about the events. Anyway, i was really glad to see so many of my old friends because the turn up rate was good! Wish there would be more gatherings in the near future! Some photos for my memory. :)) One more thing, my army life had being really busyyyyyyyy....so much admin stuff to do, store stuff to settle, items to be returned , indentations of items, unit rations forecast...Although my job scope is different now, it is still tough. Who says admin and store is slack in the 1st place? So much to do, so little time..

Evil people at large

In this increasingly materialistic society, success is defined by one's education level and the power one wields. When people think they become successful, the evil in their heart starts to grow so strong that they become engulfed by their own individual darkness. That is when sadism kicks in.

Their ego is so huge that they think they are at the cutting edge or at the top of the world. Ordinary people are like lower lifeforms in their eyes. They believe that the world cannot do without them; they are important or so they think. What a putrid way of thinking seriously.

Recently i came across such sadists.

Medical doctors in my barracks became my nightmare due to their "professionalism". First doctor called me the "taiwan joker" for substaining this finger injury. The reason he said that was because i was injured in taiwan. I felt so hurt and yet i could do nothing. I thought things would turn better when i saw a second doctor. The next bastard however, started telling me stories.

"Last time in army there were 4 people who desperately chopped off their right index finger to escape army. The 1st, 2nd and third succeeded. But the fourth didn't.."

I was stunned momentarily upon hearing this and i became more aggressive. I questioned the doc whether he implied i was trying to siam army. He said he didn't. Yea, right. He also threatened to cut short my MC and if my next MC was prolonged, he would call to check with my specialist again. Apparently, the two weer friends. I tried to explain to him why i needed such a long MC. He didn't bother to listen and made decisions based on his wrong sense of judgement, saying rubbish along the way like i am still fit to fire guns and do all the shit.

I was boiling with anger as i wrote this and maybe next time if i were to see him in the street i could teach him a thing or two. Let the doc says whatever he wants, i will just throw another MC at him. So what if he is a doctor or a captain. It makes me puke to think that these are the kind of people who practise medicines.

No more being Mr nice guy kahhaw. The world is sadder than you think it is.

Night accident

My constant fear of dad's health condition became reality at 2am yesterday when my dad complained of right loin pain. I only knew about this after mum came bursting into my room asking for help. The pain became unbearable for my dad and we rushed him to the hospital by cab. All of us were especially flustered during the ride because it could be a kidney problem. Dad was attended to shortly and doc suspected that the problem might be kidney stones but she wasn't sure yet. Dad was then administered a painkiller injection before going for x-ray and a urine test. I prayed very hard for him and luckily nothing was wrong with the test result. Doc then gave him a laxative to clear his bowels and my dad felt much better after that. Therefore, it might be severe constipation and dad was subsequently discharged. He would need to come back to the urology department again for a medical appointment in 2 weeks time. As of now, everything is still fine.

A second chance

My recovery is doing very well. Although my right index finger still cannot bend completely, the middle part of the finger has recovered to the point that i can clench my fist and grip things now. As for appearance, it looks like a nice new finger except for the deeply etched scars. Will continue to do more physio. Thank you for the miracle.

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

My life has recently took a turn for the worst. Doctor was quite sure that my right index finger would not be able to bend completely after a freak accident in NS. the shock came too suddenly and too much for me to bear that i was left virtually traumatised. It was after a long time before i came to terms with this fact, and began to understand that this was just a reality of life. The accident had allowed me to focus on the things that truly matter in life. My family was my pillar of support as i was going through this difficult time, often asking me to take it easy and saying that i was lucky enough already. I appeared strong in front of them, but emotions would overwelm me every night that i would sob while trying to sleep. Every now and then i would contemplate about my future, and it seems so bleak. Things which i took for granted long ago like writing and gripping firmly seem like chores now, because i have difficulty doing them. I worried about tweeny little things like how i am going to fare for myself and take care of my family in future. They all seem so far-fetched and ridiculus but i just couldn't control these thoughts that keep swirling in my mind. I am physically impaired now although i hate to admit it. I have begun to practise writing with my left hand now.People might think that I am crazy or something, but i am just doing everything that i can to salvage the situation...

The past few days were probably one of the most torturous and depressing moments in my life. On friday afternoon at camp i received the bad news from my dad that my grandpa had passed away. i therefore applied for compassionate leave and left for perak with my family.

The cause of my grandpa death was cerebral bleeding. i saw many of my relatives there at his funeral and we grieved for his loss. My grandpa was a poor man and at his age, he still had to work as a cleaner at a hawker centre because he could not retire. i also learnt from my dad that my grandpa requested for cremation while he was still alive as the burial process was too costly.

This further reinforce my mindset that money is everything. I want to grow up earning lotta of money so that i can provide for and take care of my loved ones. The old times that i used to spend with my grandpa when i was still young will always stay vividly in my memory. I will miss him forever.

Everyday is the same

Oh no... nothing really special occurred ever since my work ended. The only thing worth mentioning is that i had my 1st karaoke experience at kbox at suntec city. Sang mostly sad chinese songs that were mostly oldies.....the ones often heard at 97.2 FM. My frens sang mostly jay songs and some english songs. Overall, it was fun but it also pained me to pay 13 dollars just for a 3 hr session. Other than that, i sang terribly..oh well. Rest of the days were spent by slacking at home reading comic or going out occasionally with friends. Quite normal. Won't be blogging until i came across a interesting event...which might take quite some time since my life is a bit boring and screwed up now.

Holiday mood kicks in

Busi, busi and busi. Did a lot of unforgettable things....During the last day of sitex, i was knocked off from work at 3am and had to ask dad to fetch me home. Was also damn angry that day becoz i got only a bonus of 30 dollar. Felt that i should deserve a lot more since i wasted a lot of energy and breath as i was the loudhailer that day..... Being a loudhailer was a bit embarrassing but i just simply did what i could do. But y 30.... grrrrrrrr. Even the caishier got 60 dollars, damn it.

Then slept for about a few hours before i made my way to marina square to buy my prom attire as the next day was prom. Really in a rush.... Oh yea! Prom night proved to be a unforgettable experience for me. Also took quite a lot of pictures with friends together. The food was really good too! The ambience was perfect, settings were perfect...and i also saw a special person that day.........:)

Went clubbing with classmates after prom and i swore not to go there again. Just went there for the experience would do. It is a place of hell. The PSI there was really close to 300 and i dance to my heart content. Got myself slightly drunk after drinking one glass of redwine and orange volka. Had to put up a night at a hotel with the rest of the class till 6am in the morning so that i could take the early mrt home.

Roadshow nightmare

Things are really hellish at sitex. It's crazy! It's*&^&%^& seriously. You bleed non-stop becoz u accidentally cut yourself or your nails crack due to rough friction. Your legs feel like collapsing at any moment because there you have little rest. You get to pit your aural skills against unreasonable customers. And u tio gan every now and then becoz the goods u sold dun tally with what is left. You stay up really late trying to count the same exact stocks again and again becoz a different number of items appear everytime u count finish. You pray that you can catch the last train at 11.45. You are *&^(&*&^*worried becoz u realise that 10 2 gig USB flash drives are missing when you swear that have last seen them 1 hr ago. You lament at how poor your maths (16 times 8 gives you 100?) and your memory is . You lament also at the stoopidity you display during the show like how do to use a price tagging machine. What's the difference between USB hub 2.0 and USB 1.1? Sigh! stress indeed! These are really the woes of running a roadshow for a noob like me.I really learnt a lot. The last 2 days of sitex exhibition will be sat and sun! Even more stressful if u think about the no. of ppl that will turn up on these 2 days. I need to get as much rest as possible. Cannot afford to tio gan again...Tomolo will indeed be very xiong.

LiFeZ after A's

These few days have been very hectic and meaningful, so i didn't blog. As usual, in order to keep things brief and simple, i shall recount the day by day events.

25th november
Went to pan-i complex at Ajunied at 10.30am to report for the first day of work in preparation for the upcoming sitex 2007. Basically, the job was rather simple as it was all about sorting and arranging IT stuff( mouse, printer ink, card reader, USB hub...). This was also the 1st time in my life that i was exposed to so many IT contraptions. Anway, worked till 8pm and was totally shagged by then. Expected about a revenue of 40 to 45 bucks.
26th november
The day of class chalet! Needless to say, the whole class had a lot of fun! Went pooling, arcade, manjong, ps2, cards and many more! Had a bbq at night and the whole class engaged in a chit-chat session. Setiments and emotions were high as the class relished and shared the things they did in the old times.
This day was also the clash of two EPL titans, namely Manchested United and Chelsea. So at about 10pm,i went with some classmates to chjmes at city hall to watch the match live in a big giant screen. We ordered a jug of alcoholic cranberry juice and this ripped 10 bucks from my pocket. The atmosphere there was really very hyped up as we were watchin the match with other fans as well. Majority of the fans there were Manchester United fans and their shouts and really proved their fanatism with football. The match ended with 1-1. Since i am a Arsenal fan, i did not feel very affected by the results. In the end, we took a cab back to the chalet.

27th November
The last day of chalet! Went to wild wild wet after we checked out from the room. This is the 1st time i went to wild wild wet and i must say that it was fun fun fun! Tried out all the exhilarating rides and i could really feel the blood pulsing through the veins. However, there was a heavy rain in the mid afternoon and the park had to be closed. But the rain soon subsided and we went backto have fun again! Heh-heh.
After the wild wild wet activity and the sleepless night in chalet, i went to to orchard with my fren weichee while the rest of the class went home. The purpose of this trip was to scout for prom stuff and i could not do it on other days because i got work. Orchard was indeed shimmering and glowing after been adorned with all the christmas decorations! Went to a lot of places like Wisma, taka, ngee ann city but the price of the prom attire were indeed very shockening. In the end, we found the cheapest clothing at tops men shop nearby Wisma Atria and we tried out some suits, which was actually an excuse for cam-whoring!

Haha, ok i think i look kind of stupid. I am reallyvery tired now after all the activities. Tomorrow still need to report early and toil at Expo hall. But on the bright side, i would be expecting a remuneration of about 400 dollars by this sunday! Enough to buy for a prom attire! Work hard i must! But now is sleep.

The end is only a new begining

Been really busy these few days. Let me recount some of the events.

Day before the last paper: Studied a bit of bio and went for job interview.
Day of last A lvl paper: Went bonkers after the bio MCQ paper because it was finally the end of the A lvl!!!!!!!WOOHOO!!!!!!!! i then went with the class to indulge at Seoul Gardens. Had a great feast and also had a memorable egg accident. Couldn't even crack an egg properly..:( After the feast that left me totally bloated, I then made my way to Vivo city for a memorable outing.

Today: Played the whole day at home and about to go downtown east for a swim. Hahaz... but i will have to go home early because my job will start tomorrow. I will be a promoter at the upcoming sitex 2006 at Singapore exp Hall 3(i guess) from 30th to 3rd decem. Tomolo job is to get familiar with the products and hopefuill to arrange the stuff. Also need the quick cash for a prom suit. Still deciding to buy or rent, havn't even gone to a prom before, wonder what it will be like.....hmmm....

Bankrupt

Spent quite a lot today and also did a lot of things. Didn't touch a single thing on bio even though my paper is this coming thursday. Here is a brief account of the list of stuff i did today.

10am: wake up
10am to 12.30pm: Slack and do miscellaneous stuff
12.30 -1.30pm: shop for new swimming trunks
1.30 to 3pm: go frens house borrow stuff and a long walk to swimming complex
3pm to 5pm: swimming
5 to 7: Eat dinner at a japanese restaurant. The " tokaso ..."wateva (forget the name) i ordered was extremely delicious.

After that, we watched "Casino Royale" at Tampines Mall.

All these left a deep hole in my pocket. Cannot survive this week alreadi. And crap! My keyboard just went crazy, sometimes type nothing come out one......

Just realised i played too much, will study bio tomolo. Rite now, i shall end here and go get some coffee. Bye.

Charity marketing? My balls

Had bio paper 3 exam today, was rather manageable. :) Then went to east point to buy a ball mouse for 6 dollars(had to control my expenditure) because my mouse was spoilt. On the way, picked up one interesting flyer...

Earn up to 60 dollars daily!
Parttime/Full time
Age 16 and above only!
Call Peter now at XXXXXXXXX

Of course, Peter was just a name that i randomly use( the real name on the flyer cannot say). Anyway, it was a job offer which seems rather irresitable so i called to enquire about the nature of the job. The guy picked up the phone and instantly said that he was not Peter because Peter was away at the moment. I began to be suspicious when he mentioned that the job was charity marketing. Charity marketing...hmmm, at once i suspected that the job was about selling charity tickets. I asked him to be more direct and he admitted that it was about selling charity tickets. EARN 60 bucks daily by selling charity tickets? How can it be possibe! It seems like a joke! I immediately sense that something was seriously amiss but i didn't convey it to him. I then asked him about the charity network and he replied that it was we-care charity. Seriously, i had never heard of such charity. I then asked him if the charity has a website, he then paused for a moment and told me that it was www.we-sharecare.org.com. I accessed this site and just as expected, no such webbie exist. The charity was all a bogus set-up, a set-up by sinister people who wanted to scam people of their money through selling bogus charity tickets. The website was probably also made up on the spot in order to convince me. Such horrendous actions! I declined and never talked to him again....

Oh yea! Next time, when you buy charity tickets, must be 100 percent sure that they are genuine, if not later hard-earned money goes to the wrong hands... In the end,the evildoers are the ones who are smiling, because they have just become 2 dollars richer....

At night, went out with friends at Tampines to had dinner. Orginally wanted to go gym but the idea was scrapped because one of my fren came in sandals. Lolx! Ok, it's getting late, shall end here for today.

Vivo nightmare

Just come back from a trip to vivo city. Went there for a quick celebration for my 3 good frens who had just finished their A lvl. Spent our time walking around this massive place and did some catching up at coffee bean. We also went to the arcade to play some racing games. Of coz, my A lvl hasn't ended yet, so i wasn't very enthu and acting wild. Anyway, saw this great place nearby vivocity where couples can get to hang out. Romantic factor is certainly there..hehex. I still got bio paper 2 and 1 to go. Sickening.. but all will end next week. Today chem paper 1 is challenging but can do overall. Hope i can score.

Sister just came back from a CIP activity in thailand. Bought 3 clothings for me( 2 jerseys and 1 long sleeve shirt). Love them. She also bought 3 ps2 games, including the latest FFXII game for me. Yea! Glad that she knew my taste so well.

Going to Sinapore expo to mug bio tomolo. I guess life will be pretty much boring, at least for now.

Wednesday, November 15, 2006

OMG, i wasted my day away. Went out do 1 chem mcq paper then went to play timecrisis 4 with a fren. After that rot at home by playing msn uno

wat a loser, don't u think?

Arsenal won!

Since i am free now i would like to pen down a historic moment in which Arsenal beat liverpool 3-0 on sunday nite at Emirates stadium. Watched the entire match and was gratified by the outcome(arsenal won! haha!). Tried to read some bio throughtout but my mind is only thinking about live football.

Anyway, this match is especially crucial becoz both teams are lagging behind top contenders like Man U and Chelsea by approx.10 points, and so any loss to each team will widen the points gap, making it impossible for my favourite club arsenal to catch up. Liverpool was deadly in the 1st quarter of the game(they scored a goal but it was offside), but it gradually lost its charm over time, with much possession lost to Arsenal. Possesion of ball was 59% for arsenal and only 41% for liverpool. 1st blow to liverpool came at 41 min when arsenal midfielder flamini did a sliding shot from a low cross made by his teammate. During 2nd half of the game, arsenal defender toure rushed up all the way to the front to prove that a defender could score too.(2-0).Last goal was headed in by Gallas after receiving the ball from Van Persie in a corner kick. Gallas was virtually unmarked by liverpool.(3 0) This sparked a fierce quarrel between frustrated Gerrad and his confused liverpool teammates. Can't believe Gerrad lost his cool, and i think most of the blame should be put on him, since he was the guy closest to Gallas but he was doing nothing about it. Close to full-time, Aresenal midfielder Adebayo repeated his traitmark solo run( he did this and scored against Man U) to the goalpost but failed to score. Last thing worth mentioning is that referee's legs went cramped during the game and whistled to pause the game, drawing rousing laughter from the crowd.

Coach Wenger was rather contented throughout the game and cameras kept zooming on him ever since he lost his cool and went into a rage with west ham manager. Benitez, on the other hand, appeared witless and solemn, scribbling notes throughout as he watched his team liverpool crumpled under the might of Arsenal. Kind of feel sorry for him and at one time, he looked like he was crying...

Overall, it was a impressive clash between 2 EPL giants of all time!
The A lvl would be over soon... but it is still not over yet, so i mustn't be too happi now.Mug a bit today and also think about the activities that i wanna do after the A's. Originally wanted to work at the upcoming pc show from 30th nov to 3rd decem because suddenly got lobang, but have to forsake the chance cause prom night is at 2nd of decem if i am not wrong...always cannot rem this kind of stuff. Still thinking about whether wan to fix my ps2 or not, cause it has gone haywire. Anyway, i cannot really do much after A's becoz my army enlistment date is on the 13th of jan...haha. It's quite early loi. Therefore, i am free till early jan bah. There are so much things to do, but so little time. want to play and slack, but also wan to have a headstart in life. Two things that contradict each other..sigh. Anyway, i figure that if my ps 2 cannot work, i will just play games on the com, dun wanna waste money to repair. Will also be training like mad in order to prepare for NS and to shed the extra kilos gained from the unhealthy lifestyle of mugging. Seriously stuffed myself with fastfood and snacks like crazy over these few mths...sigh. Then maybe go learn some stocks knowlege or wat. Oh ya, i borrowed two books on investments yesterday at the library because they looked interesting, but reading them might prove to be the opposite. Maybe can also try going to the nearby pasir ris Community Chest with a good fren to play chinese chess as he says quite a lot of ppl play chinese chess there at night. Maybe i will just rot at home by staring at the com screen and dota all day...might also go out to work with dad or learn cooking skills from mum..

The things i will do, onli time will tell.

Midst of A lvl

In the midst of A lvl now, so didn't realli come here to blog frequently. The good thing is that it's halfway thru, just 2 more weeks and the darn A lvl would be over! Basically, i am quite worried for maths paper 1, kind of screwed up the damn paper. As for maths paper 2, chem paper 3 and bio paper 2, i guess they were pretty much ok.... hopefully. Anyway, i still have chem paper 1 and 2 next week. After chem, it will be bio paper 1 and 3. As usual, went to mug today at the airport with my sec sch frens. Not realli productive and i felt quite slack, maybe becoz the heavy papers were mostly gone, or becoz of the fact that the A lvl would be over soon. Found myself unable to concentrate today. I noe that i would be screwed if i continue like this, so i better wake up my idea. Sianz...

zzz..haven't been bloggin lately. Realli busi, prelims are just around the corner. In fact i am going to sit for my biopaper 2 in about....5 hrs time. Better go sleep now, so boring......

sicko..

With 79 days to A lvl and 28 days to prelims, the last thing a student would want is to fall sick and be deemed unfit. Unfortunately, i really did went sick today and could only blame it on dumb luck. Tried to substain throughout the day but the illness became too much for me to bear until i had to forsake the last maths lecture of the day. Haiz. Oh ya, many people commented on my lips today, including the clerk in the GO and my friends, who insisted that i put lipsticks because my lips turned out to be so red. When i said i didn't and explained that it was heatiness in my body that caused it, they found it much scintillating. O_O! So at 2 min to the last maths lecture of the day( yea! i lasted that long!), i couldn't take it anymore and dragged my heavy body home, where i slept like mad until now. I do feel much better now, because i took the advice of others by gulping down large amount of water to flush out the toxins from my body. But still, the dryness in my throat remains, my lips are still red and my body feels hot and cold every now and then, which i think is so ridiculus.

Mum came home at 4 and upon seeing my state, was worried for me. She didn't scold me for not taking care of my body, which she did 99.9 percent of the time. I was surprised that the 1st thing she said was that i went sick because i worked too much, and didn't get enough sleep. These words proved to be so heart warming because she finally knew that i was serious in my academic work, and was determined to work hard to achieve good results.

My body is aching again, i think i better go and sleep now.

Crazy day~

Today was crazy! Because my frens and i got to play soccer during school! It was all fun and exciting, but the one thing that spoilt it was the fact that the ball got kicked over the fence and we spent 15 min trying to retrieve it. You see, we were playing street soccer in an enclosed area. When the ball flew over the fence, we couldn't retrieve it because it landed on the roof of a small building. This instilled a fear so great in us that we die die also have to retrieve it, or else the school PE teachers would screw us up big time! We tried all desperate measures in order to retrieve the ball, even to the point of risking our life for it. I knew it was dangerous, but something in my mind just prompted me to do it. First, I had to step on a railing which was overlooking the ground at a incredible height in order to get to the second roof. I knew i would be gravely injured if i tumbled. Fortunately, i made it to the 2nd roof but the challenge came because the ball was located at a roof that was much higher. It was just a bloody tall wall before me and although i could jump to reach and grabbed the edge of the 1st roof, i couldn't force myself up there in my 1st attempt. So had to call people to bring chairs to me so as to give me some height. At last,i managed to retrieve the ball and we resumed playing. It was a dangerous and difficult attempt, but we did it. Although i had some bruises on my knees and forearms, i think it was worth it.

Later, i stayed in school to study with 2 frens in a classroom from evening till night time. Was the last person to leave school, which somehow created a feeling of pride in me. Come on, how often do u get a chance to be the last person to leave right? So it is like quite cool.

Woh sad sad

I feel extremely angry, exasparated, frustrated.. at school today. During biology lesson, I asked my bio teacher a question, and this somehow proved to be a stupid question to one 0f my good friend, who simply...ermmm laughed at it. At first i didn't notice it, until the teacher singled him out to the class because he was.....errmmm laughing at my stoopidity. Although i didn't really vent out my frustration, deep down inside, my heart was pulsing with anger. And to add on to my already boiling blood, he was my very good friend somemore. I mean if you think this question is stoopid, u also dun't have to laugh rite. :( This friend of mine is also not a very altruistic person and he doesn't seem interested in answering my queries whenever i ask him questions. Haiz, i think this is veri regretable la. I shouldn't feel angry, because after all, he is not obliged to teach me. But next time should he refuse to help me, i hope that he won't give me that face- it kills. I don't realli want to pen this anymore, because it hurts to continue. All i can say is that i don't harbour grudge for long because i think it is childish and we are still good friends together, despite the extreme personality differences. But the good thing, this incident shall serve as my personal motivation to strive hard for the A lvls!

I shall be going to a old friend's house soon for a gathering with my realli realli good frens- my fellow batch scout mates. One of them has gone overseas for his studies and has only just returned. This cheers me up slightly. Got to go now! Have to make my way there fast becoz there is realli some catching up to do, i call it men's retreat! hahaz !

A nice chinese song i am currently listening...

Hungry Ghost Festival

Today is the 1st day of the hungry ghost festival and as usual, my family went down to the void deck area to pray and burn some incense. I became very emotional as i prayed for my family and results. Of course in my case, i hope i would do well in A lvl. For dad, i prayed for his health, as his health condition has deteriorated much lately. The stressful working environment has taken a toll on him. Every now and then, he would return home to remind me of the need to study hard because life has become very harsh on him. I would however, became very frustrated because of his constant nagging. But i knew they are important in reminding me of the goals that i have to achieve. I began to worry for his health, as he had high blood pressure and had ignored medication for quite some time. His appearance reminds me of a frail old man, coupled with deep wrinkles and white hair. His eyes have also become waterly and blood-shot lately. Somehow, i began to have a morbid thought that my dad would..leave me suddenly. I dunnoe how to put it by time is running out, i must work hard to give him and my mum a good life they deserved.

Didn't get any rest lately because my current lifestyle is that i would sleep from evening till 8pm, then mug until the next morning at 3am. I would then sleep from 3am to 6am, sounds crazy but i think it is meaningful as i really get to do some solid self revision on my own.

The muggin crusade begins..

The time is as of 2.12 am on my watch now. Bloggin now in order to take a break from doing maths. I have decided to mug thru the night and catch some sleep at school from now on. Becoz at school, some lessons and lectures to me are considered as a waste of time whereby you don't really learn a lot. So instead of staring at nothingness or stoning, i might as well close my eyes and get some rest, and prepare myself for independent mugging after school. I seriously don't understand y some teachers always find fault with students who close their eyes in class. i mean they are still able to listen to what the teacher is speaking, except that they are resting at the same time too. That's killing two birds with 1 stone mah! Ok, back to books.
Today i don't know what got over me... cause i skipped maths lecture. Well, it happened because there was a large time gap (about 2 hrs) between dismissal to the extra maths lecture. I also thought that they would go thru Maths paper 2 (boring) instead of the new topic numerical methods. So i skipped it, even though i knew it was wrong in the 1st place. To add to my dismay, the lecture went thru numerical methods instead of the boring Maths paper 2. Looks like i would have to borrow notes from friends tomorrow to copy down the stuff i missed, or even worse, to try to make sense of the new topic without help. Argghhh, stoopid me.

A lvl coming up in ermmm....4 months time! This izzit! The final barrier to overcome! But my prepartory work is still not up to standard yet. Had just finished my midyears, secured a EEO. The future looks grim for me, but i believe i can do much better in the upcoming prelims and A lvl. There is absolutely no time left to feel sad or depressed over my bad results, because it is errr...pointless. I am still wondering y am i bloggin when i am supposed to go back to my books. I really want to make it to the pharmacy or business course after graduating, because i dunnoe wat else i can be. To enter pharmacy, one needs to secure 65 out of a 68 max score. That is like hitting almost the max perfect score..Awwww. Business will need 60 points. Basically, i have to hit AAB or the most ABB, nothing worse liao. I am quite worried over my GP and bio and maths, wait.. that is virtually all my subjects. Hack! Before i go, i wanted to say Ngee Ann campfire~The gathering of the pugilists rockz! I did went back last saturday to Ngee Ann Sec to help out and keep in touch with my fellow scout brothers. They haven't changed a bit at all! Haha. Oh yea! One last thing,I have been feeling really tired and lerthargic lately, can't realli concentrate in class. Maybe shall sleep earlier from now on! Bye
